Police foil British coup attempt

Posted by orange blossom special on Wed Dec 6 17:04:50 2017

Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman and Mohammed Aqib Imran, who were remanded in custody, will face court tomorrow over the alleged attack

Counter-terror police have foiled an alleged plot to bomb Downing Street and murder PM Theresa May.

Two suspects were arrested during raids in London and Birmingham last week, it emerged tonight.

Scotland Yard said: “Both men were remanded in custody to appear at Westminster magistrates court.”

The pair – Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman, of North London, and Mohammed Aqib Imran, from south east Birmingham – were held on November 28.

It came during raids by officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command.

Tonight the London force said Rahman, aged 20, had been charged with preparing acts of terrorism as well as assisting Imran in terror planning.

Rahman was reportedly arrested while allegedly carrying two potential IEDs last week.

He was said to have been allegedly plotting to bomb the security gates at Downing Street with a device hidden in a bag.

The area is heavily populated by police and tourists seeing the sights of Whitehall.

He had allegedly planned to enter No.10 in a suicide vest and carrying pepper spray and a knife in a bid to kill the Prime Minister, The Sun reports.

Terror attacks are “part and parcel of life in a big city,” Khan later told the Evening Standard just hours after police foiled multiple terror attacks in New Jersey and New York.

Once hailed as a “progressive” Muslim that would inevitably challenge regressive Islamists, Khan echoed the same excuse shared by European leaders across the West. After a series of terror attacks in France, the French Prime Minister told his countrymen that France “will have to live with terrorism.” In other words, terrorism is the new normal.
