Meaning that statistically if you say Merry Christmas, you'll be saying it to someone that believes in Christmas

False. Fewer than 50% of Americans believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the son of God and ought to be worshiped for that trait.

It is true that more than 50% of Americans believe that it's really nice to have a holiday at the end of December and have an occasion to give friends and family gifts.

So you are right in saying that more than 50% of Americans won't mind in the slightest if you say "Merry Christmas" to them. On the other hand, probably more than 50% of Americans also don't mind if you say "Happy Hanukkah."
