I was going to write a post comparing it to the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union existed for 74 years* and did other things that people could be proud of, like defeating the Nazis and sending the first man to space. The Confederacy, in its barely four years of existence did nothing but prosecute the Civil War and perpetuate slavery. There are no great Confederate achievements outside the Civil War battlefield.*Technically the "Soviet Union" existed for 69 years. |
