She made an agreement with her parents that they would take care of him for a certain period of time (IIRC, so that she could go back to school). There is no indication that if they had been unable or unwilling to do so that she wouldn't have taken care of him herself. As for Obama's father, it's not totally clear who broke up the marriage. It's also not clear that he would have had continued permission to stay in the US after they got divorced. |
