Because the popular box office choice is comic book heroes and cartoons, which may or may not be great cinema, while a good film noir detective story will languish at the box office but could be the greatest film ever. The people who vote on these films aren't using box office receipts as criteria.Back in the day, most films that won were also the most popular because people went to the movies more. |
