Hollywood has been self-referential for a long time. Look at all the movies that have been made about making movies. Or about what directors are feeling. They're all self-aggrandizing even when they seem critical of their subject like 8-1/2.The box office tells what the most popular movies are, but movie people are so impressed with themselves that they think they are artists judging art. |
