IIRC it was main stream Repubicans , Led by Goldwater that turned their back on him that was the final straw. My Father was a staunch Rep Conservative who swore to his dying day that Nixon got railroaded by a hostile media.History shows that Nixon was his own worst enemy & brought about his own demise. History also shows that a hostile media was a big help by piling on. Their existance is nothing new. |
