Citizens United is more complex than that. Frankly, the whole "corporations are people too" did not have to be reached by the majority decision. The First Amendment permits the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. It also says that the state cannot abridge the freedom of speech. If a group of people decide to band together to form a corporation or any form of legal entity, should they lose the rights they have as individuals? Constitution does not say that they should. |
