Although it was inappropriate for Obama to come out with his "if I had a son he would look like Trayvon Martin" when he did, that case is different than the other 3 listed. The latter 3 the police did not do anything wrong. Zimmerman, on the other hand, probably did. I only say probably because he was not tried on other crimes that more accurately fit the events that happened and potentially could have carried the same maximum sentence as what he was charged with, but the State filed charges they knew would result in an acquittal as they had not met their burden of proof as to all of the elements. Even though there was a dead body, Florida's aggravated battery statute would have been more likely to get a conviction. |
