I watched FIRSTHAND during Rudy's 1993 run. People living in Monsey, Kiryas Joel, and other upstate towns coming down to Williamsburg, Brooklyn en masse to vote for him. How do I know this? Because Grand Rebbe Tietelbaum's sons were fighting over who was going to take over once the Grand Rebbe died. So the camp of the one son who was in Williamsburg would point out to the poll watchers and others every time an upstate carload of former Brooklynites now living upstate came in to vote. I was directly told not to get involved in the Satmar family fued, so I didn't. True story. |
