Secondly, my SOLE concern is the United States of America, not some far off land that may or may not be one of our "allies" that need to be watched for other reasons related to my duties

Very short-sighted of you. Do you honestly think Iran isn't/won't export terrorism to our shores and our overseas interests, directly or indirectly, as soon as they can?
