The problem with the Labor Force Participation Rate is that you have more baby boomers retiring than young people of working age. The Labor Force Participation Rate counts someone who is retired before retirement age like Irwin as unemployed when, even in a good economy, he would not be looking for work. There is no accurate measure to determine a true "unemployment rate." Whichever rate people choose is likely to be determined by their feelings towards the President. If this is such a problem, where is Congress in passing laws that will create jobs? Does investigating Benghazi 16 million times create new jobs? |
