I believe I also owe a serious reply here, so I'll go for it.

Let's start here:

Influence for contribution has ALWAYS been how it works. Unlike direct campaign contributions to the person however, those who have "paid to play" have given money that actually gets spent to help people across the globe as well as here. That's what the Clinton Foundation was always about and that's where the money went.

BIG campaign contributors get appointments to the cabinet, ambassadorships, and the really high rollers get to be appointed as federal judges or worse. It's damned naive to think it has ever worked any other way.

Now ask yourself, or better yet try this yourself. Joe Schmoe, citizen. Call up Donald Trump without paying a penny, or even your own best-loved politician and ask if they can do something for you. Whatever you want ... please post results.

When we ran the software company, we couldn't get the time of day from ANY elected official at any level aside from a nice form letter blowing us off. Once we ante'd up money however to their campaign, or their favorite charity, shit happened. Seriously ... check it yourself.

It's been this way before Roman times and Trump ain't changing shit.

I'd rather see the revolving door work for people who have done some good in the world than any of the Goldman Sachs motherfuckers who stole us all blind.
