Not necessarily. The Democratic party also has severe problems right now.

The Democratic Party's "problem" is it had an Independent candidate running as a Democrat in the primaries, who brought a whole lot of supporters under the Democratic tent who would have otherwise been strictly third party or completely uninterested. As a result, you have a small fraction of those people disillusioned and going home, and a much larger number - including Sanders himself - now supporting the mainstream candidate.

The Republicans nominated a demagogue who now has mainstream voices in the party, including a couple of primary opponents, actively campaigning against him. That's a much yuuuuger problem.
