One of the biggest problems this nation has is lack of infrastructure. Look back at WW2. even with a massive, and at the time expanding thanks to lend-lease, manufacturing base we had a difficult time producing all that was needed to fight that war.Now we buy tanks from the freekin Chinese. What will happen if, let's say, a presdient trump starts military action (in the conventional sense) against them. We'll need tanks. We won't be able to buy them. Get it? Even though it's private sector, and there isn't anything wrong with that, we need a robust manufacturing base HERE because we just may need those assembly lines to crank out materiel some day. It's happened before. It's far easier to retool an existing plant for another related purpose than it is to build from scratch. And much faster. |
