That's the sort of thing the right to bear arms is for!Want to talk idiots and guns though, my buddy had a bit of an argument with his town. They were trying to pass a "animal trespass act" because his free range chickens kept wandering into neighbor's farms. They tried to pass it off as a humanitarian thing, "a chicken could get hurt wandering free like that, there's foxes in the area!" Meanwhile one of his more connected neighbors shoots pheasants on his farm for sport. His response was "shouldn't we do something about that, I mean, a pheasant could get hurt on that farm!" (not to mention anyone past said pheasant when he misses). They were not amused but eventually the act was (no pun intended) shot down. Another funny but unrelated part to that story, there were arguments from horse and cow owners who would be affected by the law, and at one point someone tried to suggest "if the problem is just one guy's chickens, why not call it the 'chicken trespass act?'". To which an old lady cackled "He has sheep too!" |
