Heard on Israeli Army Radio |

Posted by WMATAGMOAGH on Sun Jun 26 15:10:57 2016 I didn't get a chance to post this before Shabbat, but thought it was worth sharing. Every radio station in Israel broadcasts a short newscast at the top of each hour. On Friday afternoons, they end the newscast by announcing the candlelighting and Havdalah times for several cities (usually Jerusalem, Haifa, Tel Aviv, and Beer Sheva) the Sabbath starting that night (they do the same on festival eves as well). This Friday, the anchor did the usual announcement of Shabbat times, and then announced the times at which the fast for Ramadan would end that night, start the next morning, and end the next night. The newscast ended by wishing everyone a "Ramadan Kareem" and "Shabbat Shalom." You can hear this about 3 minutes into the file posted here. |
