As it stands, the real estate mogul breaks even among whites with a high school degree (a rough measure of “working class”), 52 percent favorable to 48 percent unfavorable. Among those who voted for Obama, this drops to 27 percent favorable to 73 percent unfavorable, tying Cruz on both scores.That's not inconsistent with what Fivethirtyeight is saying. If nothing drastic happens between now and November, I expect Trump to lose by a decent margin. But he might still get a bunch of people who voted for Obama in 2012. There is also of course the risk (which isn't being discussed in this subthread) of some 2012 Obama voters sitting out 2016. |
