On the other hand you have Hillary and Bernie supporters going out of their way to protest at Trump's events and initiate hate, intolerance and violence.

The word is perpetuate, not initiate. Trump encourages hate, intolerance, and violence. Unfortunately it also encourages some of his opponents who don't realize the trap they're falling into.
