"It's probably only done to be "politically correct", as they do it for the Jewish holidays or other "obscure" holidays."There is a major difference between the Orthodox Jewish holidays and the holidays of every other religion, bar none. On the Orthodox Jewish holidays, adherents are religiously prohibited from moving their cars. The reasons for this are too lengthy to go into and irrelevant to the issue at hand anyway. No other religion has this restriction. As such, the City does a tremendous service to the Orthodox community by suspending ASP rule. The City is within its rights to keep the rule in effect and collect tons of money from Orthodox owners who don't move their cars. |
