OK, at least be real about it. "Southern culture" as symbolized by the Confederate battle flag, is all about slavery and Jim Crow. In South Carolina's Articles of Secession, delivered when the South fired on Fort Sumter, the rebels made it abundantly clear that the issue in controversy was slavery, not shipping rights, "Dixieland heritage", or any other red herring.

Why isn't flying such an offensive symbol of an indefensible institution any different than flying the swastika?
