So you're saying that if someone believes the workers should own the means of production, they must necessarily believe that the workers should take the means of production by armed revolution? At the moment, there is no easy way to ensure that "the workers," however that category be defined, can be made owners of the means of production nor any way of determining the appropriate balance of goods and services to produce outside of profit motive. It is unlikely that these fundamental problems with communism will ever be rectified. However if, by magic, they somehow are, then I would support the idea of the workers owning the means of production, but I would oppose armed revolution in favour of a slow transition mediated by elected government with plenty of time to reverse course if the magic stops working. Even so, the claim that communists support armed revolution by definition is trivially disproved. |
