I obviously knew the conclusion that cold weather causes crime was a joke.Good. I did not think he was faking the data as part of the joke.He wasn't faking anything. The data and conclusion are all part of the same image file, which I'm 99.99% sure was made by someone else. He just came across it and decided to post it. As I understand it, the joke is that if something doesn't go the liberals' way, they will make up a stupid excuse. Whether or not Chicago actually, in real life, has a "worse" crime rate than Houston is immaterial as it's all part of the joke. If Chicago didn't have a worse crime rate than Houston that the joke wouldn't make any sense. So of course it has to show it that way. Besides, who in the world trusts anything that is part of a sourceless internet graphic, never mind the fact that it is part of a sourceless internet JOKE graphic! I have in the past criticized others for posting something seemingly as fact without providing any commentary as to whether they believed it or not. In this case, the thing that was posted was clearly a joke, and I have no problem believing that Dave truly believes that a liberal makes ridiculous excuses sometimes. So there was no need for him to include a disclaimer that the data isn't, or at least may not be, true. Because 1) the data wasn't the main point, 2) it was clearly a joke, and 3) as I outlined above, no one should be taking any sourceless internet graphics seriously. RIPTA, Stephen, ClearAspect, Luch, and R2 also didn't acknowledge that he was faking the data as part of the joke.RIPTA didn't claim he was faking anything. He just pointed out that it was wrong. Which no one should be surprised about. Because, as I said, it was a joke and no one should be taking any sourceless internet graphics seriously. Stephen's link is using a different metric than just murder so it's not the same thing. Clearaspect is just offended that Dave was making liberals the butt of a joke so he tried to supply a real world counter argument. As for Luch and R2, I don't think anything needs to be said. |
