I try to eat kale and green beans because they are usually US grown, while I find almost all broccoli is from Mexico or Ecuador.Most foodies don't want food that travels so far to get to your shelf. Cilantro is an ingredient I use for guacamole. Honestly I did not look at country of origin like I do on fruits and veggies. I don't buy it often because supermarkets sell it as a bunch, and it's more than I need. So yeah, I was aware of the conditions in Mexico and other countries. If you treat workers like shit, they work like shit, and will lash out on the products they're producing. But I'm sure my kale and green beans and peaches are organic. I can tell by the look and taste at this point. |
