Perhaps it's because we're way out in a rural area, and the stereotypical mindset, along with lots of other places, is that we must be rednecks with attitudes to match. And that racism is a way of life here and those who don't buy into it must be "libruls." It isn't, and we aren't. Needs to be pointed out every now and then.

If it's any comfort to the turtle, we don't have a Nordstrom here, so I imagine he wouldn't be interested in moving here. :)
