College is and was disproprotionately attended by the middle class. Surely you don't deny that. College students were exempt from the draft.It's that simple. That's the "Well, Everybody Knows" argument. Even Wikipedia doesn't accept that. College students were not exempt from the draft, they were deferred (1-S) so long as they were successfully working full-time on their Bachelor's. Typically that meant until age 23 or so. That left them exposed until age 26 and, legally, until age 35 if the SSS wanted to pursue it. But let's leave that aside. Are you including Black people in your calculations? |
