You're out of your mind to compare those three Presidential icons to Obama.In 30 years everyone will be comparing him to those icons. And your children's children will agree. They will speak of him with the same whispered reverence that we bestow on those other three. They will thank us for our wisdom in choosing him to save this nation in a time of dire peril and bringing it forward to prodigious new heights. They will be inspired by the knowledge that in America, the promises of our Founding, even when seemingly lost, have endured thanks to the work of a great man. The era Before Obama will be incomprehensible to them. Just as pre-Independence and pre-Civil War and pre-New Deal America is incomprehensible to us. They will ask "what took you so long?" They will envy us for having the luck of inhabiting these cherished days for they will know that we have not merely existed in the Era of Obama. We have LIVED him. |
