Like mtk said, it would create a dangerous precedent.All a President would need in your scenario is to ask Congress to invite a favored foreign leader and then go greet him under the guise of "but the Congress invited him". Should he then invite that leader's main opponent to give it the guise of neutrality? It would never end. It would be the most naked of interference in a the election process of the citizenry of a foreign and sovereign democratic country. |
