If I shed a tear for everyone who dies tragically, I would die of dehydration within minutes.The difference is that I admit that I feel no grief. I don't disingenuously prepare to. If someone I knew and loved died, and you pretended to care, I would be far more offended than if you said nothing at all. Also, there have been times in which terrible news has been posted about people whom I have heard of, and I refrained from comment despite actually feeling sad, because I felt that such expression in the medium of SubChat/OTChat would ring hollow. Such expression would be indistinguishable from the fake sorrow that you express and I'd rather not be associated with it. |
