There are many secions of Long Island that are not rich at all. Visit downtown Hempstead, for example. And while there are many mansions on the North Shore, the South Shore is far more blue-collar and working class. I've lived in Queens and in Nassau and I can tell you firsthand that there are many parts of Queens that would put Nassau to shame. Douglaston and Whitestone and Little Neck are just three areas that contain mansions of their own. |
