But once he was gone the Church had an obligation to make a path available whereby the children became Jewish again.

Well, that didn't happen. So was what the church did bad? Or was it doing the right thing for the wrong reason?

And if some evangelicals are supporting Jews and Israel at a critical point in time for a "wrong" reason, should Jews get on their high horse (to echo President Obama's borrowed phrased) and say "no, we will only let you support us for the right reason?

You know some Jews (and some Christians--look at the Mideast now) would die rather be forced to convert. So should those Jewish parents in World War II have refused to let their children go into that convent and be raised Catholic? Or should they have allowed their children to die pure? This was not a theoretical question.
