If you started Firefox in Safe Mode, it will remain in Safe Mode until Firefox is completely closed. If Firefox craps the bed, it will start in safe mode too until whatever happened is resolved. The easiest way to make sure Firefox is completely closed is to restart your computer. Once your computer starts up again, start up Firefox.

If it's still opening in safe mode after a reboot, let me know.
