It looks like you suffered a logic failure.

So, did you miss the point too or is this just your Golden Mean Fallacy schtick, where you've noticed that my position is 100% true and Dave's position is 100% false so you need to butt in and insist the truth is somewhere at the 50% mark?

You do realise you're saying that to a person who is alive because he was smart enough not to go to Vietnam, right?

You have provided no substantiation for the claim that salaam is alive because he did not go to Vietnam.

I am in the process of providing that proof.

You see, deductive logic shows which conclusions follow from given premises. Before a deductive argument can be made, all persons involved must agree on the premises. I have posed questions to Dave for the purpose of establishing that he agrees to the same premises that I do. Once he has stipulated to the truth of those premises, I will present the deductive argument that shows my statement logically follows therefrom.

Were I to present the argument prior to obtaining Dave's agreement to the premises in question, then he would likely deny the premises - obviously truthful though they may be - and the debate would be sidetracked as I attempt to pin him down on those obvious truths. In any case, it is generally bad form to make assumptions as to what the other person believes— most logical arguments are preceded by an effort to ascertain that one's debate opponent agrees to the premises on which those arguments are based.

That you fail to understand this precept of basic logic is indeed worthy of a bookmark.
