I've had the experience of getting honked at while waiting to turn left when the oncoming traffic has had a small clearing because there were (slow) pedestrians. If I had begun the turn I would have cut off oncoming traffic. Person behind me has to wait. . too bad.

They've also changed a lot of the right-on-red permissions lately in the city. They remove that privilege during school hours. Some notice the change, some don't, so you automatically get honked at for not doing it.

And I've been honked at for not doing right-on-red where permitted because I had a pedestrian RIGHT in front of me, "twelve o'clock."
