American Telephone & Telegraph will let me use an unlocked phone.Verizon lets me tether without an extra charge (in the same way they "let" me take photos in the subway; they don't exactly have any say in the matter). It does require rooting (at minimum), but that's not a big deal since I'd have to do that anyway to fix the operating system. That also takes care of the malware (and I'm pretty sure AT&T has malware; look up Carrier IQ). |
