Michael Brown's murder was just the spark that started these protests— the pervasive system of segregation and oppression has been around for centuries.

Not that the racists will care, of course. People like Bill and Silence say that racism ended in the 1960s, and half a century from now, people like them will be saying that racism ended in the 2010s.
