These are traditions I follow because of my aforementioned cultural background. Ergo they are Jewish traditions. They may not be your traditions but that doesn't make them any less traditional or me any less Jewish. By the way, I spoke to my father this morning (about unrelated family issues) but in passing I mentioned your comment. He was quite amused by the notion that he's a failure as a man/parent/Jew because he fails to celebrate Yom Kippur in the manner that a random autistic manchild on the internet dictates he should. |
