I don't wish to see such a situation come to pass, however, there are lots of ways to maintain Israel's Jewish character without killing its minority population or expelling it. "Minority" population? You said Jews must always be Israel's majority population. OK no more dodging. I'm just gonna ask you— if Israel's population ceased to be majority-Jewish due to natural demographic shifts over time, what should be done about it? Here is yet another explanation of how and why Israel should be a Jewish, democratic state and what that means. That is the most absurd pile of bullshit I've read so far today on a site other than OTChat. From the article: There need be no contradiction between the state’s Jewish character (which first of all means the recognition that Israel is the state in which the Jewish people exercises its right to self-determination) and its commitment to afford equal rights to all its citizens. Of course, there's absolutely no contradiction between the idea that we're both equal in this country and the fact that this is my country where I have a right to self-determination and you don't really belong but we'll let you in anyway. I've asked you this before— what part of "separate is inherently unequal" do you not understand? Or rather, do you not understand the sentiment behind that phrase? |
