The plague of WAY too many musicians who died before their time. I never worked with Coltrane, but sure worked with a lot of other, very talented musicians. Music eats your soul if it ain't finished. And when it IS finished, the NEXT session begins eating at it again.

It's a tortured life, brought on by personal pains and suffering that PRODUCES the music as an escape from those demons. And so it goes.
