Poroshenko definitely needs help, but more than anything right now, they need money, and they're about to tap into $1 Billion from the EU. EU is who they really need, America isn't all that important to Putin as a weapon, the EU depends on Russia for gas and exports whereas we don't, so it's disappointing to me that they're not solidly standing behind Ukraine.EU ain't doing Ukraine any favors right now. France is still trying to get their military contract money with direct arms sales to Putin, same for Netherlands and Germany. What Poroshenko needs from us, he's been getting and they're quite pleased with what Obama's been doing for them so far. My oldest coworker is directly involved with getting that all together for his country right now, and for now, he's OK. Can't say very much - both of my guys are serving in the Ukraine Military right now, and are on leave from us, so what happens over there is of IMMENSE personal importance to us bingbong and I quite personally. Not to mention that bingbong's ancestry is from Lviv which is Ukraine now, but was once Poland. So it's QUITE personal for both of us. But America REALLY needs to stay out of this one - we're just pissed that EU is giving Putin solace by not standing up to him. Wish I could say more, but I fear giving away any of what I know that shouldn't be "out there" right now. Both of us pray for Ukraine daily though. :( |
