"I grew up working class. There was NO priviledge from the whites and Puerto Ricans I grew up with. "

HMM......I sense that the BILLBKLYN dude is either in DENIAL like Olog-hai or really that dumb. Which?

Why mock the author of the article because why? he is making a SIMPLE comparison between how people treat other people and you, the big mouth from Brooklyn, with 3 degrees in "street psychology," want to downplay any sort of "privilege." Yes......I know people who worked their butts off to make a living. Look at rbka, who toiled the office hours to attain his ranch with 40 acres. I don't doubt he worked hard for it, but lets look at one word........

OPPORTUNITIES

Some people get them and some DO NOT. How you get them is also plays into the picture. If you got no help getting a good-paying job and are forced to survive at minimum pay at McDonalds to eat and have a roof over your head, has does that future outlook look? how many years will it take to be a manager there? will I get beat out but someone with a college degree? or someone who is related to the boss or a friend of the boss and that person gets it and I don't?

Yes.....BILLBKLYN...life can be a "tricky" deal for some. The path for many is also different. But to be so "blinded" like you are to the knowledge that privilege comes in various forms, is appalling. Here I and others have given you examples and you just "throw it under the bus" routine......why? why not be OPEN-MINDED for once to the possibility that privilege exist and then it quite often comes in a "MILD" form and may not be so visible for you to understand at times.

How many times have you been mistreated by the NYPD while growing up in Brooklyn? or your family members? or close friends from the neighborhood? could they have been treated better by the cops if it did happen?
