The objects in the car could be shuffled around, gunpowder traces smeared off, fingerprints destroyed, whole bunch of relevant stuff.The correct protocol is to photograph the interior in situ and then tow the vehicle to impound for evidence gathering. There is one thread in the narrative that involved a shot fired IN the car, and that evidence is destroyed or compromised at best. It was in an article I think in or linked from the Times a couple days ago, one of those informational things where other cops analyzed the Ferguson PD fuckups on this. |
