I want to be careful with comparing Ferguson to Trayvon Martin. In the latter there were charges that could have been filed which carried a similar penalty to what they ultimately charged, but the evidence was a much better fit to what transpired and the claims of self-defense (N.B. this was not a "Stand Your Ground" case) would have been less effective. Personally I think the Prosecutors overcharged knowing they could sell it to a gullible public while knowing at the same time they could not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt so the jury would find Zimmerman Not Guilty. In Ferguson I am not sure that there is any crime committed by the police officer while Brown clearly committed a felony and was resisting arrest |
