If the value of the property or services stolen is less than $500, the theft is a class A misdemeanor under Missouri law. (Mo. Rev. Stat. § 570.030.)

One can argue Brown committed Robbery in the second degree because by pushing the storekeeper, he forcibly stole property. Robbery-2nd degree is a class B felony in MO.
