New long-term job projections by the Idaho Department of Labor anticipate annual job growth of 1.5 percent between 2012 and 2022, more than twice as strong as the economic growth the state experienced between 2002 and 2012 and a half percentage point higher than the projected growth rate for the nation. Construction, health care, leisure and hospitality and retail trade should be the fastest growing sectors of the Idaho economy, all expanding by annual rates of 2 percent or more. Construction is rebounding from being hit the hardest by the recession while health care is continuing growth that was uninterrupted during the recession. |
