Israel has to prove to the palestinians NOT the world that they're trying to help them out, looking for their best interests, however with blockades in place, the wall, and new settlements in the west bank that many saw as payback for Abbas blindsiding Israel last year with the UN recognition. I feel terrible for anyone in the PR department in Israel, thats a brutal job.The blockade forces Palestinians in Gaza to rely on Hamas, and you get a giant version basically of Stockholm Syndrome where because Israel isn't helping, they (palestinians) have to rely on Hamas. So it creates a cycle that wont ever end until one side concedes. As much as Israel would hate it, its in their best interests to stop the new settlements and open the borders, then let Hamas make the first error. Cause now Israel puts the ball in the PA and Hamas hands, and lets see if they can do something with it, because if they dont then Israel can say to the world "SEE!?" |
