How does that work? I know the mother is supposed to be the one Jewish. I have some friends (brother and sister), in their 30's. Their father is Jewish, their mother Italian Catholic. They were "raised" Jewish, and both of them have children, and the woman (sister) is raising the little girl Jewish. (I guess what you would call Reform Jewish?).In any event, they had all their ceremonies (Bris, Bar Mitzvah, etc). How does it work with the woman and her children? (Remember, her mother was not Jewish, but her father was, and she was raised Jewish, and now raising her little girl Jewish (although her husband is not Jewish) Confused yet? In that case, the little girl's mother is Jewish (although remember, the grandmother was not). The brother also married a non Jewish woman, even though he was raised Jewish, although they are not raising their sons Jewish. |
