After all, if someone claimed that HIV doesn't actually exist, would you believe them when they said raw milk was good for you?Well, I don't think raw milk is good for me for the same reasons Louis Pasteur cited (and I happen to know of people who became deathly ill from it in an earlier era) but that is nevertheless rather of a non-sequitur. If someone who was a PhD in evolutionary theory told me that raw milk was good for me I would not take it as true just on his say-so. OTOH, if I was in rural Georgia and I asked a local man where a town was, I wouldn't discount his answer if he said "It's about two miles ahead on the Augusta Road. Get there safe, praise Jesus!" I doubt I would discount his directions. |
