With cross-breeding, at least you can get some forewarning that the trait in one of the potential parents might be undesirable; e.g., a strain of corn is resistant to bugs but it tastes bad and makes a good percentage of the people break out in a rash, early indication that cross-breeding is a bad idea.Science. Decidedly useful in verifying (or disproving) claims about cause and effect. With GMO, people are perceiving it as less gradual, more hit-or-miss... Which is funny because it's actually more efficient and precise. |
