Coloring eggs for kids to be delivered by the "Easter Bunny" have absolutely nothing to do with Christian Easter.From Wikipedia so you know it's true: - The hare was believed to be a hermaphrodite who could reproduce without loss of virginity, and came to represent the Virgin Mary. - Orthodox Churches customarily abstain from eggs for Lent. They boil or roast them prior to Lent to preserve them, then eat them to break the fast. - Eastern Orthodox and possibly Lutherans began dyeing eggs red to symbolize the blood of Christ. |
